kenmore gas dryer

sory i gave the wrong model #before but this is the right one 110.73942101 when i push the start switch the dryer starts and when i let it go the dryer stops its like the motor is not catching ???

Sounds like you have a bad motor.
Unless there is something caught around the blower wheel you will have to replace the motor to repair it.

The part number for the motor is 279787.

You have a broken belt. On this particular motor there is 2 leads attached from the motor's run winding to what we in the business call a safety switch, in the case of a broken belt. If the belt is broken the idler will hit the leaf attached to the switch and the motor won't go into run because the belt is broken and the spring loaded microswitch kills the run winding in the motor. It will go as long as start button is pressed, but quit when you let the button go.

thank you guys for repling so fast but i tried another new motor and that wasnt it and i had it apart i pushed the start switch with out the belt it didnt start but then i pushed up on the pully where the motor is and it started so the motor cut off switch is good and the motor is good and theres no opstruction on the blower so i put it back together and tried it agian the tumbler turns and the motor runs but when i let go of the start swicth the motor stops is  i noticed theres a motor relay buy the timer could that be it and how do i test it or is there something else i need to look at  ???

The problem is in the motor relay and testing it is very simple...just swap it out with the heater relay right beside it. If the motor stays on, there's your problem.

it worked i changed the the relays from one to the other and whala it was the motor relay :2funny: :rofl:
