Kenmore washer basket off balance

I just purchased a slightly used Kenmore washer. Got it home and ran a load, and the damn thing shook the whole house while in spin mode. I leveled it, balanced the load etc... ( all the things they tell you to do). I'm pretty handy, so I took it apart. Checked the bottom assemblies, all look fine. Then, with everything apart, I ran the spin cycle. I can see that the actual basket is off balance. The rest of the basket assembly( motor, outer basket etc...) is all fine and doesn't move or shake at all. It's just the metal basket that's tweaked. The center metal rod is smooth and does not shake or wiggle at all. It is just the basket alone. What should I do? A new basket is $160! Thanks.

Their are 4 springs. 3 of them on the base ans one from base to rear wall. Are all of em in place? If so you may need to replace the pads on the base.

What are the serial numbers on this machine?  (checking for updates)


There is a liquid-filled balance ring atop the spin basket. If it fails the basket will wobble. The part is easily replaceable, and certainly cheaper at $33 than a new basket!
