I didnt test the timer actually. A few of my tests led me to believe that it wasn't the problem. When I bypassed the cycle stat with a light switch and let a cycle run and get stuck in that same spot, as soon as I flicked the switch, the timer advanced. Also there is power getting to the heating element (120 volts) so I just assumed the timer was ok.
I'm just a homeowner though and was following some guidance from a repair guy to try and figure out the problem. I can certainly figure out the testing of the switch if you think its possibly still that after my tests.
I really appreciate the reply. I'd love to fix this instead of replacing it.
