What Repair-man is saying:  The humming you hear is the water walve calling for water, which happings to be cold on the rinse cycle. I'd bet what the Repair-Guru told you about the drive cam hitting the spring bracket is going to be the cause of the clicking noise. Drop it back out and line up properly. Had the same thing happen and that was the problem. I shut it down after a few clicks were heard, and nothing had broke.

You're not getting any cold water, which is what the beginning of the Rinse is looking for to run. Clean or replace the valve.

You lost me here. Because I don't have water hooked up to it is why it's not advancing through the Rinse Cycle?

The timer cannot advance until the water level switch has been satisfied that the tub is full. No water=no advance.

Ok how do i line it up properly? The directions for replacing the clutch didn't say much.

Here is how it should be lined up.

The plastic part will already be mounted on the washer as you slip the transmission/clutch into place. You can just stick your head up in there and watch to make sure it lines up correctly.

Well took me about 4 months to get back to working on the washer, but I think it's fixed. Tested it with just a small load of water only and it filled, agitated, rinsed, and spin (fast and quiet). The only thing I noticed is that in the spin cycle it tuned the water on twice for about 5-10 seconds each time. Is that normal? Tomorrow I will test (in the garage) with some towels.

Here is how it should be lined up.

All whirlpool-made toploaders use 2 spray rinses (12 second each) in the Spin cycle to help push suds out of the spinning load centrifugally. Normal behaviour  (it's noted on the wiring diagram also)

Ok I have the washer in the house now and testing it. I did Normal wash with a smaller then average load of towels. It filled, agitated for awhile then half way to the rinse cycle it started draining. Not spinning, just draining. Then it started spinning just before the rinse cycle. Then it started refilling, agitating, then draining again without spinning. Here I opened it to see and the tube jurked just a little. Then when I closed it she started spinning about half speed. Then did final spin.

Is draining without spinning just draining normal? And when it was draining the rinse cycle should it have been spinning from the start?

Thanks
Shawn

It's time to replace that timer, as Jumptrout suggested. Now it is apparent that it is bad.
