Whirlpool Washer Click Click + slow spin
« on: April 26, 2009, 05:09:07 PM »
I got this washer from my parents (Whirlpool Model LSR7233EQ0). They said it wasn't spinning the cloths out. I checked the switch, and replaced the clutch because I thought it was alittle weak at the start of the spin. Well now when I test the spin cycle I sometime get this 2 clicks with slow spin. The 2 clicks repeat every couple seconds.

click click.......click click.......click click.......

This seems to happen when I haven't rain it in a day or so. When I turn it off and turn it back on it spins normal.

Thanks
Shawn

That was my guess, but I didn't want to waste money on a guess. Why do you say timer? Is this a educated guess?

Thanks
Shawn

Set the machine to wash. When it advances to spin, their should be a pause in the timer, the transmission will lock in and spin when the timer resumes. If it does not spin, open the lid, then close the lid, if it spins replace the timer.
If not, replace the transmission.
Not an educated guess. I learned it from Repairman.hehe.

I don't have it in the house. It's still in the garage. So I have no way to put water in it. Will it still work in wash cycle?

Set the timer at the end of the rinse cycle, just before spin and try it. Let it advance to spin and wait for the pause and spin. If the timer passes the spin mark on the timer and does not spin, raise then lower the lid and see if it spins.

OK so I was messing with this washer last night. When I put it in the wash section (between 6 and Rinse) it agitate some then started spinning. Then when it got to rinse cycle I could hear the motor humming, but when I looked under it the motor didn't look to be moving. And 5 minutes later the timer hadn't moved from the beginning of the rinse cycle.

You're not getting any cold water, which is what the beginning of the Rinse is looking for to run. Clean or replace the valve.

Sounds like when the gear case was pushed back up and in the plastic drive cam hit the spring bracket and broke. Or the motor may be shot but the only way to know for sure is to do some electrical testing with a volt/ohm meter and the wiring diagram located within the appliance.

You lost me here. Because I don't have water hooked up to it is why it's not advancing through the Rinse Cycle?

What Repair-man is saying:  The humming you hear is the water walve calling for water, which happings to be cold on the rinse cycle. I'd bet what the Repair-Guru told you about the drive cam hitting the spring bracket is going to be the cause of the clicking noise. Drop it back out and line up properly. Had the same thing happen and that was the problem. I shut it down after a few clicks were heard, and nothing had broke.

The timer cannot advance until the water level switch has been satisfied that the tub is full. No water=no advance.

Ok how do i line it up properly? The directions for replacing the clutch didn't say much.

Here is how it should be lined up.

The plastic part will already be mounted on the washer as you slip the transmission/clutch into place. You can just stick your head up in there and watch to make sure it lines up correctly.

Well took me about 4 months to get back to working on the washer, but I think it's fixed. Tested it with just a small load of water only and it filled, agitated, rinsed, and spin (fast and quiet). The only thing I noticed is that in the spin cycle it tuned the water on twice for about 5-10 seconds each time. Is that normal? Tomorrow I will test (in the garage) with some towels.

Here is how it should be lined up.
