Lid Lock Mechanism Bypass
« on: May 24, 2016, 10:20:51 AM »
Hi everyone,
I have a Maytag washer model mvwc200xw0 that could possibly has a faulty lid lock mechanism.  The lock would not release the lid after washing cycle stop.  The only way to get the lock to release the lid is to unplug the power cord and plug it back in again.  Its a pain in the tush workaround but lately I am starting to smell the burned in the washer.  Could be the controller board but I am guessing that its more of the lock.

One how can I diagnose the lock and two if its a bad lock then can I save some money by bypassing the lock?  We have no children in the house so safety is a little lax.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Found the manual with diagnostic instructions.  I will run that to narrow down and problem area.
