Whirlpool Washer - Does not agitate very good.

Complaint: Washer does not agitate very good. The cloths just sit there in the water and don't move around much during the wash cycle.

This washer has a two part agitator. The bottom part agitates back and forth and the top part of the agitator ratchets in one direction pulling the cloths down in the water.

I could turn the top of the agitator by hand in both directions. This told me that the agitator dogs needed to be replaced. After installing the new agitator dogs the top of the agitator would only turn in one direction like it should.
