Kenmore 90 series not spin dry
« on: April 22, 2009, 09:41:17 PM »
Hello,

My Kenmore 90 series will not spin dry. Everything seems to work fine except the close is still wet. If I press the close hard, water will come out. What could cause this problem?

I don't hear any noise while it's spin. Some people said this could be a clutch problem. How can I reach the clutch? From the top or from the bottom? I am a DIY person and I can repair a lot of things but the washer is new to me.

Many thinks to your help.

Sorry, misspell. I means CLOTH, not close. Thanks.

You also misspelled "thanks" but I'm not a stickler for grammar anymore after reading JW's stuff :)

Thank you a lot for the excellent info. I was rush typing and didn't check carefully. I will check clutch to see whether it needs a replacemnt.

Hi,

I had the washer apart and took out both the coupler and the clutch. However, both the coupler and the clutch look good. No broken or torn out.

How can I judge whether the clutch is not good and needs replaced?

Thanks

A close exam shows that the coupler piece on the motor shaft is not as tight as the other piece on the gear case. Just feels a little bit loose. Should I replace the coupler? My washer is at least 6 years old (I bought my house about 6 years ago. Don't know how long the previous owner used it).

Thanks.

Do yourself a favor and replace the coupler AND the clutch. Under $50 for the 2 parts.

Ok, I will replace these two parts. But, I have a dummy question first.

The clutch assembly has a big plastic part(brake cam driver?). The part has a big and small foot. Which part of the clutch should the foot point to? Point to spring?

Thanks.

No question is a dumb one...well, almost :)

Here's a shot of what the link-up will look like when you slide the clutch and tranny back up to the brake cam:

Also, I ordered the parts on this website on Friday and received them on Monday. I highly recommend this website if you want to order parts.
