Kenmore elite dishwasher not getting dishes clean on smart clean setting

I have a ~4 year old kenmore elite dishwasher that no longer gets the dishes clean when set on "smart clean".  I'm thinking that there is likely a water clarity sensor that isn't working right, but not too sure.

When I run it on a "normal" cycle, they come out respectably clean.  

Any ideas?

My Smart Wash cycle has never cleaned as well as the Normal w/Hi Temp Scrub. SO I just always use the Normal/hi temp or Pots/Pans.
