maytag quiet 300 leaking

this dishwasher is 3 years old and suddenly started leaking from the rear bottom of the tub at the holes for the heater element. upon inspection it seems that the gaskets had pulled through the holes. i suspect a over heating problem. have you heard of this and do you think it is repairable?

I have never run into this problem.

Maybe Repair-man or one of our other technicians have seen this problem before.

This is not a very common issue, but can happen under certain circumstances. If your heater element has become covered in calcite so that it  can no longer effectively dissipate the heat, then it could feasibly distort the gaskets. Or, this could have been a manufacturing glitch at the factory (made on Friday, etc), such that the heater was over-tightened or not secured well to begin with.

My advice is to replace the heater assy (comes with new gaskets)  #99002971

Also, be sure that the dishwasher fills with enough water each time to touch the heating element. If the water valve has become clogged with sediment, a poor fill can cause heating problems and potentially make the element overheat. The heaters on these units actually have different wattage ratings depending on whether they are in contact with water or not.

Those brass speed nuts that they use are not very good either and come loose over time. A trick I use is to apply a little high heat silicone between the gasket and the tub. Make sure both surfaces are clean and dry.

If I remember, they have switched over to large plastic nuts that cover the whole end of the element, except for the terminal.
