I am a self taught fix-it in the barely past beginner stage. I don't own any meters of any kind. However, the Whirlpool factory guy told me to replace the coupling, which I did but the problem was still there. Thanks to all of you, I went in and checked the lid switch (which I didn't even know was there!) and it had broken off and was just hanging there. I went to sears and got a new one for less than $35, put it in, and all is working well now. Thanks for saving me from buying a new timer and a lot more hassles of taking apart and putting together. Did I mention I am a 57 yr. old woman?
