Kenmore Series 90 Filling Problem

We are having problems with our washer filling, especially on the rinse cycle, but we've also noticed it on the initial fill cycle as well.  If we have it set on warm rinse, it will start to fill, then suddenly the flow is reduced to a trickle of hot water.  After a short time it goes back to a regular flow, but then cycles to a trickle.  It keeps this up until the washer is filled.  I checked the screens on the hoses and they're clean.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

If you already checked the screens all you can do now is replace the water inlet valve.

I just received my part today, and thought it would be no problem replacing it.  I assumed I would take the back off of the machine to install the water inlet valve, but am having a big problem getting the back off.  Then I thought that taking the back off might not be the right approach.  Can you give me any information about how to get access to the inlet valve to replace it?

Once you flip the console up, pop the S-clips, and unplug the lid switch disconnect, all you have to do is tip the case forward and you can get to that pesky water valve.
