blower wheel - 3976707 (motor only)
« on: April 13, 2009, 12:53:47 PM »
How do I remove the blower wheel from the 3976707 motor, I think that it is a reverse thread wheel and I have tried a wrench on the motor shaft and on the blower wheel but it won't come off, am I doing something wrong here.

Try looking for it inside the dryer door.

This link may also help you locate the model number.

Left handed threads. Sometimes they just don't come off the way they should and you have to use a big hammer to bust them off.

Give it a hit in the center of the wheel from the back with a big hammer and bust it off. :)

Get a pipe wrench and lock the motor shaft down on the inside. Then stick a hammer handle into the blower between two of the fins at the 3 oclock position and slam downwards with a rubber mallet or just plain get mean with it. It will come right off. The threads are reversed on these wheels.

Did you break it or get it off in tact? Do not feel bad if you broke it because that happens a lot. The heat welds the blower to the  shaft.
