Roper refrigerator Model RT18AKXKQ05 with water dripping into frig

I have the above model Roper frig with water accumulating in the bottom. I have learned from reading many posts that the freezer drain is probably blocked. There is ice forming in the freezer as well. I watched the video on a Roper on this forum but mine is a little different. I have an ice maker and no bottom removeable tray. Does the ice maker have to come out to clean the drain? Thankful for any help

Hi,

Yes you will need to remove the ice maker.
Once the ice maker is removed you will be able to remove the back freezer panel.

Other then the ice maker and no removeable tray it's about the same as the one in the video.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Is there anything I have to do to remove the ice maker other than shut off the water and remove the unit? I figure I need to loosen the three screws to the ice maker, unplug the connection and it should come out easily. Am I missing anything?

Yep, you got the right idea, but you will not need to shut off the water.
If you were going to remove the ice maker water valve in back of the refrigerator you would need to turn the water off. You will only need to remove the ice maker inside the freezer so you can leave the water on.

Unplug the refrigerator and remove the three screws.
Once you have the ice maker away from the freezer wall you will see were to unplug the ice maker wire harness.

Thanks for the help. All went well. Had to run the hair dryer for a bit longer than I thought. What causes this problem? It is a four year old frig and this is the first time it has happened. Should I expect this again?

Glad to hear you got it fixed.

The defrost heating element may have moved away from the drain hole a bit.
If it happens again just install a Heater Probe Kit and that should take care of it.

The drain may have just been plugged up with a little piece of something too.
It may never give you any trouble again, but if it does the heater probe kit should do the trick.
