amana washer spins but shuts off after a few seconds

I have a Amana softnsound commercial washer and it will do everything but spin.  it will start spinning and when it starts to pick up speed it shuts off.  Any ideas?

Does the motor get real hot?
Have you checked the pump for objects?
Does the Idler wheel turn free?

Unfortunately i do not have a model #.  I got the washer when i moved into my new house.  In genral what might be causing this issue?

no the motor does not get hot.  but what i did was bypass the door switch with a paper clip and after a few seconds of spinning the paper clip started to glow a bright orange and i guess the safety circuit kicked in.  Basically that is what it is doing with the switch connected but i have noticed the power cord gets warm.

I will go out on a limb here and say you probably have a bad motor. But that is the good news. The bad news is these washer are scale fodder my friend. Do not let the fancy stainless steel tub fool you. This washer is just about as funky as a GE new style. I give it a hair better only because the tranny is slighly better but not much. Their are so many problems associated with these lame ass pieces of shit that it ain't funny. I would not put a dime into fixing that machine.

What does getting the washer when you moved into the house have to do with not having a model number?

You should be able to find the model number on the model/serial number tag that is located on the washer.

The tag should be under the washer lid or maybe on the top of the control console.

the tag under the lid where the model# should be has been removed.  Is there any place else i should check if it is not on the lid or on the control panel?

Can you take pics. Especially of the motor and the helix and main drive pulley?
