Dryer not drying!!

Ive had this dryer for about 12 years now.....worked great until yesterday.

Problem:  stopped heating and would not turn off (kept cycling until manually turned off).  

Possible quick/inexpensive fix or is my dryer done!!  ?

Hi Big Lou,

I believe the model number of your sears dryer is 110.76712693

Sears model numbers start with three digits before the decimal point and end with eight digits after the decimal point.

I think the first three digits are sometime missed because they are different size print on the model/serial number tag.

Could you take a second look at the model/serial number tag on your dryer to make sure we have it correct?

Well if it is not drying at all I would first check the fuse mounted on the back side of the dryer under the dust cover on the blower housing.
I would take the time to clean the vent pipe outside vent and the  blower housing itself. I would next check the flame sensor. If it is open then no power can get to the ignitor and gas coils. The ignitor is what I would next check for continuity. if it is open then we can't get ignition can we? Here is a brief explanation of how it works and what to look for:

Right........everything seems to be working with the exception of "hot air"......

Could the thermostat be another thing to look at?

It is right there next to the fuse. You can check it for continuity. If it has 4 wires. 2 big ones and 2 smaller ones do not worry about the smaller wires. all they do is heat the thermostat so it will shut down faster for perma press and delicate cycles.
