Kenmore elite fridge problem

The thermistor is located in the freezer compartment on the back wall area above the evaporator. It is in a small air duct that leads to the FF damper assy. To test the thermistor, place it in a glass of ice with a small amount of water in it. The resistance should be around 16.3 OHMs.

The thermister is part number 2188819 and is shown below.

The final saga on the fridge that shuts off.
I ordered both thermisters for the freezer and refrigerator.
It was a very easy job to replace both.
In the freezer you must remove the back plastic that runs between the shelves.
Of course remove the two top shelves.
The plastic scoop has 2 screws and is removed easily. The thermister was just hanging there behind the air scoop.
The wire lead goes thru the to the fridge side so you have to remove the wire harness cover there which has one screw.
The baffel that controls the air from the freezer to the fridge is easily removed by compressing the clips and then the whole baffel comes out exposing the connections for both thermisters. They un plug and you just replace everything back the same way you took it apart. The whole job took no more than 20 minutes.
I checked the resistance of both new thermisters and both old ones at room temperature and in a glass with ice and water.
Only the old freezer one was almost 2 ohms lower than the orhers which of course would relate to the compresspr running to get the ohms to 8.5 where it should be. I guess sometime it ran so long the compressor just shut off.
Anyway now the temperature is exactly what it should be and it can be adjusted within 1 dec of the setting.
Sooooo I guess it is fair to say that BEFOR you replace the control board you replace the thermisters....they were $5.00 each compared to several hundred for the board.
By the way the test for thermisters using the control board only tell you when it completely malfunctions not just if it is off calibration.

As an addition....when I replaced the freezer thermister I taped it against the freezer wall.
There was no tape or mount so I just used a foil/mylar tape.
The fridge one is taped to the baffel so I used some butyl tape to make sure it was in the best place to sense the actual fridge temp.
