LG dryer

I start this LG DLG3788W dryer and it hums but the drum does not turn. I can turn the drum by hand close the door (quickly) and the dryer will run. This will happen if the dryer is empty also

I have never even seen an LG dryer but I would lean seriously towards motor replacement on this complaint.

the dryer is 3 1/2 years old. Sometimes it will run fine with no prblems

Maybe you has some warranty on it yet?

With the dryer door open, find the door switch. Depress it and get someone to hit the start button while you spin the drum as they hit start. If it hums, then start running with your assistance, the start winding is bad, or the electricals on the motor aren't closing. I'm LG authorized. I'll look up more info for you and post it later. What kind of motor does an LG dryer have? Is it a 3 phaze dc exotic model run by a power inverter on a huge computer board? or a simple 125 volt motor like in regular dryers?
