Hotpoint topload new style piece of crap

OK guys here is a good one. I have a new style hotpoint/ge washer that starts out spinning real good then in 6 seconds you hear a clunk and the tub locks up. The motor keeps going but no spin. I put it on washer and defeat the pressure switch and the agitator turns real slow. Before I turn this worthless piece of garbage into truck scale fodder does anybody know a trick?
