I have a Whirlpool direct drive washer that stopped agitating or spinning, and I began researching how to fix it.
The motor runs when it should be agitating or spinning?
If the motor runs during the wash and spin cycle does it make any funny noises?
is there a way to determine if the trans is bad with it out,
You should be able to turn the transmission by hand to check it.
Leave the one half of the plastic coupler on the transmission.
The put the rubber part of the coupler on.
Put a phillips screwdriver or some other round shank in one of the empty holes in the rubber coupler and spin it around by hand.
When you turn it one way the transmission shaft will agitate back and fourth.
When you turn it the other way the bottom part that attaches to the clutch will spin or if you still have the clutch on the transmission you will see the clutch spin.
