kenmore 70 series abruptly Stops!

I have replace the drive coupling and ran it through a cycle when i heard it trying to tear from the frame as it seems when the motor disengages from spin it has no free movement it just locks up. Would this be on the clutch or the brake, or do i just have a part out of alignment?

More than likely a bad brake cam. The plastic cam can split, causing the issue. If I am not mistaken , the cam for the brake also comes in the inexpensive clutch kit, which will help you out anyway. You can always drop the tranny and inspect the parts I am talking about if you like, the instructions are here.

Thanks for the info im guessing thats what broke the drive coupler to start with. Because i went and spent 2.00 on 7 2 in. washers and JB welded the two end on in hopes it was a quick an easy fix, wouldda been easier to buy new part, hindsight 20/20. Well thanks again i'll check the instructions and get back with you>
