How Do I remove the top of my dryer

My dryer let out a big burst of hot air last night, although it was not on, nor had it been on. This morning, it stopped heating, guessing it is the heating element, but I really don't know. All I need to know is how to remove the top (as if that's gonna do me alot of good) Thanks a million!!

Unplug the dryer.
Take a phillips screwdriver and remove the 2 screws on the bottom right and left sides of the dryer. About 3 inches up from the floor.
Pull the front panel forward, then up to release the clips.
The heater will be on your bottom right side.

Once I do all of this is there some sure fire way to determine if it is the heating element? Is there gonna be a neon sign saying "Problem here:"  cause I am kinda...well to be honest, I lack common sense. Any advice will be appreciated...thanks in advance!!

Your problem sounds more like a short circuit in the dryer.
Yes, it could be related to the heater.

  Just a huge THANK YOU to you guys for your answers! You rock! When I unplugged the dryer from the wall (dreading the work to follow) I noticed the plug was loose. I plugged my dryer into the next dryer plug down...and VOLIA! I have a working dryer!!! Thanks for all the input, you guys are really great!
