Long dry time and low temperature

The dryer takes about 2-3 hours to dry a load on sensor dry.  On the Timed dry you need to run it 2 or 3 times for 60 minutes each time.  I have tried disconnecting the vent pipe and running it with the air blowing into the basement and it still takes the sameamount of time.  The air coming out is definately warm but is never hot.  I opened it a few times in the middle of the cycle and near the end and it is a little bit warm inside but nowhere near as hot as it should be.

Most of the time the maytags have a stripped out blower wheel and a heap of crap in the filter housing. Just a guess

Your gas coils may be going out...usually they will light up the first cycle or two, then the ignitor just glows but no heat. See if this is happening here...

It is getting good airflow out the exhaust just never hot.  How can I inspect to see if the igniter is heating up and if there is a flame from the gas coils.

Ok I opened the front and ran it.  The ignitor gets bright red hot.  The gas ignites and give a big hot flame but then only stays lit for about 8 seconds and then goes out.  It does this repeatedly about every 2 minutes or less.

Do you know what the part # is for the coils.  I don't see them in the parts diagrams.  What page are they on.  Or do they call them something different on there.

I just replaced the 2 coils and it still has the same problem.  The flame comes on for like 10 seconds and then goes out.

OK, now it's kicking out on hi-limit. Take off the vent hose completely and see if this still happens. If so, replace the hi-limit thermostat mounted on the heater flue.

Are you sure it is not 35001192.  It looks like 35001092 is for the electric dryer in the diagrams.

The  flame is not supposed to stay on very long. Are the clothes getting dry?

You are exactly right...the correct hi limit is the 35001192.

Nice to know I am capable of a mistake now & then

It works fine now.  It just needed the coils.  I am stupid.  I was testing it with is still all taken apart so the high limit sensor was turning it off quickly because there was no air movement.  Works great now thanks.
