water in dispencer taste bad

this is a jenair built in side by side fridge and the water from the dispenser almost taste like mold some times when not used much it seems to taste ok but the more its used it seems to taste bad again the filter was changed about two months ago what can i check on this thing ?oh the ice from the bin was melted to see if it tasted bad but it didnt seem like it did

Check the back of the unit to see if it was installed with soft vinyl hose to the wall supply. If so, change it to  copper or stainless to remove residual taste and odor issues. You may have to flush the water reservoir in the fridge afterward by running at least 2 quarts thru the door dispenser. Change the filter every 6 months.

The problem with using a filter is two-fold...on one hand, it removes chlorine and cysts from the water. On the other hand, the removal of chlorine allows the water standing in the 2-quart reservoir to be unprotected. It can stagnate if not used regularly, so run a glass or two every couple of days even if you give it to the dog.

Also the movement of warm air across the tubing under the refrigerator can increase the problem. I have covered the tubing that runs from the freezer door to the reservoir with an old washer fill hose & it really helps. You can use tubing bought at the hardware store as well.
