whirlpool washer model LXR9245EQ1- won't drain-slow spin
« on: December 19, 2007, 02:23:58 AM »
I am new to the board, thank you for your help in advance.

My washer filled and went through the wash mode fine, when I went to put the clothes into dryer I noticed it had not finished the cycle and was just sitting on rinse.

I then selected the spin mode and although the washer did spin it never did pick up enough speed, and it will not drain.  I tried every cycle and had the same result each time. So it will agitate fine, it will not drain so it won't rinse, and spin is very slow.

How do I drain the washer manually? Where do I go from here?

Any ideas?

I have never taken apart a washer before, but am pretty handy for a mom!

Thanks

Hi,

This video will show you how to take the cabinet off the washer.

If the washer spins, but the water does not pump out I would look for a kinked drain hose on the back of the washer first.

Then I would remove the cabinet and check the water pump to see if something got in it.

Let me know what you find or if you need any more help.
Hope you find our site helpful.

It must be something inside the pump. The reason I say it is the water pump is mounted on the drive motor and the drive motor is mounted on the tranny on this bad baby. It is called a direct drive model. For it to be dragging can only mean one thing and I have seen this with my own eyes. A pair of pantys, a bikini top, a baby sock ALL can get into the pump and the pic below is your pump. Look here....lay that drain pipe down level with the floor. The gravity should make the water come out of the drain pipe full strength. If it does not flow out rapidly then my diagnosis is right. Something has lodged into the pump.
