Remove the cabinet or tip the washer back and look under it for a oily gear case/transmission.This pdf file should help you remove the cabinet if you don't know how.http://appliancejunk.com/motorcoupler.pdf
The clutch sits on top of the gear case. If the clutch is oily it will slip and not spin the washer very good.If the clutch is oily I would replace The Clutch.
The oil maybe coming from the transmission.If it is I would replace the transmission too.How old is your washer?
The clutch sits on top of the transmission. Did you not have the washer apart and see it?
