See if this image helps.
The tab on the clutch needs to go in between the two plastic tabs.

This is a top view of things. The plastic piece part on top will already be mounted to the break and the clutch will be mounted to the top of the gear case.

But when you slide the gear case in place you will have to watch close so you get the two part lined up.

I lined up the clutch right. But still same issue. I think I am giving up at this point.

But, Thanks everybody for your help and suggestion. I learnt something useful.
