This is just crazy!

I just read about that in the paper.

So how does any one justify giving him a raise when...

I'm not allowed to run the train
The whistle I can't blow
I'm not the one who designates
How far the train will go
I'm not allowed to blow the steam
Or even ring the bell
But let the damn thing jump the track
And see who catches hell.
May the hinges of our friendship
        never grow rusty.

OK, so I have one as equally un-just as that...when Maytag told us in 2006 they were selling out to WHR, our illustrious CEO (Ralph Hake) walked out of the  deal with $7.5 M in payoffs. This was as the company slid into bankruptcy. Now, what do you think that made us feel like?

Granted, he was a former WHR pencil-pusher, so it is not surprising that they would install him in the Maytag position only to fold into WHR a few years later. Hm-m-m, can you see a pattern here? This is why the stock is at <30 points instead of 84 when I bought in. Who should be pissed now?

Over half my retirement is history.

That's like NYC Board of Education giving 35 of us the pink slip ( budget cuts) and promoting the secretary to administrative secretary with a $42,000 raise.  :o
My question is where is the so called funding from the "Lottery".  :tickedoff:

Easy for  you to say...

Sure, the damage is done, and even though I might be standing on the street corner in a few years because there's no &^^$%*^&$ money left, I would probably still buy more now that it's so dang low. What a dilemma...

Excuse me for seeming bitter, but it took me 35 years and a hell of a lot of washing machine repairs to lose $40,000 in one fell swoop last year.

I would be bitter too.

Now if you only had invested in gold. :)

Let me get this straight: you knew how bad the new models performance sucked but thought the stock would stay at a premium?
If it woulda been me, the first time I found out how a wax motor worked would have thrown up a red flag. Luckily for me I invested most of my money in Miller High Life. I pissed it all away of course. :D

No, it was because Maytag was still the best company to work for and up until that point, had the very best reputation for quality, as you know. They also paid very well. Who would have dreamed they would go belly-up after 100 years?  Should I have traded all my IRA stock as soon as I saw wax motors failing? not hardly...

 >:( Maytag here in New York was not such a great place.
When I left RCA, I went to Maytag for a job.
The service manager had me go through all the paperwork and take numerous tests as well as riding with a technician for a day (non-paid).
The next morning I went to the office as requested and was told
"Sorry, but you are overweight and would probably miss days of work because of this. Therefore we will have to pass on hiring you".  :embarassed:
