70 series Kenmore electric dryer spins but does not heat

You Have cleaned the vent and vent terminal. You said that you checked the damper flap for operation, did you do it from inside or outside. If you did it from inside go outside and see if it has a stopped up varmint screen on it.
The correct thermal fuse kit for your dryer is 279816 (309F) you need to replace the High limit t-stat also included in the kit, IT IS BAD it not opening and causing the element to overheat blowing the TCO. To test borrow your honey's electric skillet, set the temp at 250 place the limit switch on the skillet face down check to see if the stat opened adjust the temperature up a little at a time until it opens, is within it's listed rating?

Hi all, I just wanted to thank you all for your help.  I replaced both the hi-limit t-stat and the TCO this last time, and it has been working perfectly since then.

Thanks again for your help and for putting up with a frustrated newbie.

I too have a 70 series that will not heat.  Found Repair-Man's picture really helpful.  Did the checks and found the thermal fuse open circuit.  Bought the replacement kit at Sears.  Did all the clean outs and am ready to put it back together, but.....

The high limit thermostst comes with instructions to jump one side to the heating element.  My dryer has 2 wires coming from the harness to the thermostst and 2 wires to the element - no jumper.

Do I still need to jump something, or do I just reconnect as it was?
