Maytag washer A612 does not agitate

Maytag washer A612 won't agitate during wash or rinse cycles. It will spin normally during the spin cycle. The brake stops the tub when the lid is lifted. It has an orbital transmission. Is the transmission repairable or do I have to replace the whole thing?

Is your motor running after the water level is satisfied in the agitate/wash mode?
If no:
Check water level switch for power to the timer.
Remove front panel and check wires at motor switch.
If yes:
Tilt machine back and remove drive belt. Then turn trans pulley counter clockwise.
If it turns freely ...bad transmission.

JW, I believe a faulty check switch will result in a blown fuse. The washer shouldn't spin with a bad check switch either.

If you have a blown fuse the water wont fill.
