Well thay say no news is good news around these parts. I called my buddy down at the appliance parts store and he said he nor none of his crew had heard of any problems associated with the units. Other than when you retro fit you have to switch out the plumbing and Air handler. None of the old copper will work. But the unit is a 15 seer with 12 year warranty and with Whirlpool owning them they may just be the way to go. Too soon to tell really.

FYI one of the oldest sales and service companies here in New York are stocking and selling the line.
I asked their opinion, and they told me that Maytag is the manufacture and now is the only equipment they sell.
They have been in business since1946. If this is any consolidation.

How long have they been selling the Maytag line?

Being Whirlpool bought out Maytag would that make Whirlpool the manufacture?
Hope you find our site helpful.

Somebody don't know their vendor sources :)

Listen up:

Maytag does not make air conditioners and never has.
If it say Maytag on it, it is either a Fedders or a Haier and possibly Heil now that WP is in the picture. Fedders made them one in 2002 that had a stainless steel cabinet..dang purty, but hard to look at in direct sunlight.

Whirlpool does not make air conditioners.
If it says Whirlpool, it is most likely made by Heil.

Both companies put their brand labels on the units, not many know who really makes them..

Yep, so did Maytag, he-he. Maybe WP is putting the Maytag label on Heil units now. The window units are LG, as are their microwaves.

Whirlpool certainly did make Air Conditioners as well as Commercial Ice Machines.
I worked for RCA servicing Whirlpool as it was called in the mid 70's.
When General Electric bought RCA, everything changed.
GE also made Central Air Conditioners, Commercial Ice Machines
as well as their famous "Oil Burner" which was installed in every Levittown  home both in New York and Pennsylvania.

Maytag Residential and Light Commercial units are manufactured by a company called Nordyne.

Nordyne

I've been a recruiter in the HVAC industry for 8 years and know several engineers that work in the Poplar Bluff and St. Louis facility.  My understanding is it was a tear down and redesign of the Lennox high efficiency unit.

FWIW, Whirlpool manufactures WRAC's out of the TN facility and have for at least the last 10 years.
