don't check the wires check the part
If it doesn't have continuity with the wires connected, it won't have continuity by itself...

He got a reading with the wires connected. But JW's right test the part with at least one wire off not the wires.

... I am not getting total continuity. It reads 10.7, not the typical .001 or .002. I am thinking that's telling me I have an issue?

He got a reading of "10". It's bad
If you're only testing to see if a switch or fuse has continuity,
If it doesn't have continuity with the wires connected,
it won't have continuity by itself...

So, went to the local parts store, and they tell me it can't be the 160 degree thermostat if the dryer won't start at all. It could only be that if the dryer wasn't getting hot. Wanted to sell me the thermal fuse that JW suggested early this morning, but that part is OK. So, I am back to square one. If the thermal fuse has continuity, what's next? Dryer is dead -

Is that the one on the right side of the heating coil? If so, it has continuity, and there appears to be another thermal switch on the side of the heating coil (just like the one on the front of the blower cover) , and continuity on it is OK, too.

10 what ohms, kilo-ohms? Big difference, electronics 101 says to test the resistance of a component it must be out of circuit.

Maybe the timer or a bad wire in the circuit.

I started thinking timer, too. Any way to check anything on it?

But the dryer isn't working on ANY cycle, regular or permanent press or anything. Would the timer cause that? When the washing machine timer went bad, it would work on some cycles, but not others.
