Whirlpool Washer Occasional Spin Problem

Hello all!

I have a 4-5 year old Whirlpool top-loader washer. I do not have the model number handy right now. In the time that I have owned it, I have replaced the pump twice (no biggie), and last week, I replaced the motor couplers (one was broken).

Now, the clothes are wet sometimes after the wash cycle is finished. It doesn't happen all the time. When it does, I can run the load another complete cycle, and they come out dryer. I don't overload the washer.

When I changed the motor couplers, I did find a small amount of oil on the floor.

Some locals have suggested that the transmission may be failing, but, I have no agitator issues. Before I spend too much on the tranny, I need some guidance. If it is the tranny, I'll just pick up a used washer at the local shop for $150.

Part of our charm is recommending the correct parts...kinda hard to do blinfolded.

If you have an oil leak from the transmission chances are oil got into the clutch assembly which is probably causing it not to spin properly. Either way you probably need a new tranny and clutch.

You might need to break it all back down and make sure you ain't got nothing binding.
