maytag not spinning

I recently moved. This washer has worked and we have never had a problem. It still works. The water fill and drains and it washes, but when it is time to spin. The other day, it would not spin. It drained, but did not spin and the belt is stil on. I can't seem to figure it out. It fills, washes and drains ,but will not spin. I am stummped! I need some help on this issue. I would greatly appreciate it.

You can get a kit to replace the main pulley and brake cam riser including the thrust washer. All for around 20 bucks. The problem is the cam riser will not release the brake so the tub can turn free. When you replace the thrust washer kit you must get the parts back in the order you took them off. Directions come with the kit and are pretty vague Basically you want to turn the pulley by hand and the brake releases before the cam reachs the end of a slot in the pulley. Others in this forum can probably explain it better than me. It is difficult to get the C clip on bottom if it is easy the new parts won't work. If however you put too many washers the tub will be loose and that won't work either.
The Part number is AP4009132. $43 SHEESH I am gonna stop saying how much stuff is. When I was in the business it was $12 for this kit.
