Any of the domestic front loaders are desgned with comforters in mind. My preference leans toward the Whirlpool Duet or the Maytag Neptune as first picks, simply due to the ease of parts and service later down the road. Avoid GE & the Euro stuff if possible. No top loaders will handle what you have in mind.

Never buy a new style of appliance until it has been on the street for at least 2 years. The first Neptune owners are still eating %$% over their impulse to buy the "latest rage". Due to an uncommon trend towards greed, manufacturers have virtually skipped all the time trials they used to run for quality control, instead trying to keep ahead of new technology from the East. When stuff like this first shows up, it has all kinds of things wrong with it. The clever manufacturers let you be the guinea pigs now instead of waiting for lab results.
