That used to be true but whirlpool bought them out a few years ago. All the manufacturers make things to fail in a relatively short period of time now.

You know how that guy drives that monster truck on them washers? He had the right idea. Line them pieces of crap up at the monster truck rally and demolition derby. Thats what they are good for.

I've done Maytag service for many years and in the good old days Maytags were tanks and the company bent over backward to help their customers . I've seen parts concessions for product 9 months out of warranty . Fast forward to the new Maytag . Its just another brand owned by Whirlpool .As far as helping the customer ,once its out of warranty your on your own they won't budge ,I've tried sweet talking ,etc but the answer is the same . I'm sorry your customers appliance is over a year old . One good thing about maytag from a techs point of view ...they provide JOB SECURITY 'cause someone out there always needs a repair

 You can say that about a lot of manufacturers machines. I remember repairing 95% of machines 30 years ago and then condemning 5%. You could repair most of those with truck stock parts as well on the first call. But now I repair 60% & condemn 40%. Not that they can't be fixed but aren't worth repairing. Give me a 15 year old Maytag & rebuild it for $300.00 & get more life out of that than a new one. If I had my choice I would do nothing but older Maytag washers & dryers & 40's & 50's gas ranges. At least I can fix them & they will last quite a while longer.

I agree with the oldstoveguy . Used to knock of most of my calls each day with no issues and with stock on the truck .You knew the problem was repaired and call backs were few and far between .Now with the new stuff ,all these fault codes door locks ,eeproms etc etc your never 100% sure and quite likely you will hear back on another fault anyways .The price of parts has gone through the roof and you spend your day basically putting out fires . If I knew 30 years ago what I know now I think I would of found a job a bit less stressful .Warranty work is the worst .Companies  pay terrible and the customer is usually pretty spun.
