Kenmore Elect. dryer timer stops prior to off position

The dryer functions fine except for the timer not advancing after reaching the "Off" position and then turning off the dryer. If given the timer dial a manual nudge the dryer does shut off. Can the timer be disassembled to be cleaned or lubed to allow it to cycle on past off and shut the dryer off as it is suppose to?

You can carefully try to disassemble and check the timer. If it does not work, replace the timer.

Get that retainer ring off the shaft before you remove the cover plate. That will make it way easier to deal with.
