Maytag Neptune Washer

Bought this washer in February 1999.  The drive motor broke yesterday and it will cost $470.00 to repair, according to the service technician.  I am wondering in light of the machine being 10 years old, if I should invest this money toward repair or toward the purchase of a new machine.  This is the first time the machine has ever given us a problem.

Actually the motor is only about $200. For a 10 year old Neptune, which is kind of rare, it is about ready for the Smithsonian.

So your Neptune will be 10 years old in Feb. Then your motor is still in warranty. It is warranted for 10 years. They furnish a new motor but you pay the labor which should be less than $4oo whatever the amount was. As in the post before Yes you could get the motor and do it yourself for $200. if you want to keep the machine.
