3 way fridge
« on: January 19, 2009, 01:02:17 AM »
Hi fellows
Did anyone here have knowledge of 3 way fridges (gas/12v/230v)?
I want to convert an electrical fridge to an electric/gas operated one, would you please instruct me to how to do it?
Repair hard,

The refrigerator you are talking about is an "Absorption" refrigerator, not the standard "Compression" refrigerator.

So I better to buy an Absorption fridge at the first and then somehow converting that heater part to a 3-way one?
Is there a straight and simple way to simply change the gas-heater to a gas/electrical-heater?

Ice, our  friend here is referring to something similar to the Servel models shown below. My next door neighbor, who is living off the grid, uses one of these in his solar-powered cabin. I will post the link to their site and maybe he can get some ideas on how these are set up..

My ice box in my Dutchman 5th wheel up at the hunting camp runs on propane or 120 VAC. So they do make them. It will either work on elec OR gas but not both at the same time. The best one to get though is the gas only model. My friend has one. It uses very little fuel but it weighs as much as a Coke machine. Are you really in Iran?

Of course Iím in Iran, isnít it crazy or something? 
Anyway, you said that gas fridges are so heavy, why? You mentioned an issue which is so important to me; if you want to compare the weight of a regular electrical (compressor) fridge with a gas operated (Absorption), what are the average weights of both?
