dryer making screaching noise

I tried to work on my sister in laws' dryer last week after she complained about a screeching noise. After checking for the problem(part of which I think was a crimped vent hose) I narrowed it down to the idler pulley, so without a new one in my back pocket  :DI tried to use some sand paper and lubricant, which worked ....for about a week. Should I just go ahead and replace the idler pulley?

That's an inexpensive repair,well worth it. I use Royal Purple synthetic oil on all dryers etc. and have amazing LASTING results. I get it on E-bay. Getting a idler pulley will be a quicker repair.
