Maytag gas dryer won't heat up unless bottom front panel is removed

With panel on the coils get hot and become intermittant with the panel off they stay cooler and keep working. Replace the coils.

Thanks a lot guys. It was the coils. I guess when I was checking temp out the vent and every time I started a load, it started cool and worked fine. I tried a load and after a while took the front panel off and the ignitor was just going off. Watched it a while and the ignitor came on again without the gas kicking in. Made me feel a lot better buying the coils! I didn't want to just keep replacing parts. My wife thinks I'm a genius - made some points! Anyhow, thanks again for taking time to think this thru for me. In times like these, it's appreciated very much!
