Rental House Dishwasher and Oven Issue
« on: January 21, 2009, 12:12:22 PM »
I own a rental property in CT.
The tenants are great, responsible, and have been troubleshooting 2 issues for about 2 wks. I trust them and their fix-it abilities b/c we personally know them.
Do any of you think it is worth calling in a repair tech for the GE Adora Dishwasher and Kitchenaid Stove/Oven or should I just replace them???
Dishwasher issue:  top rack dishes not coming out clean, the lines have been cleaned out, the filter cleaned, the air gap checked,...nothing has worked.
Stove/Oven issue:  the glass top cracked, ordered and installed new top, now the oven has error codes coming up and we can't clear the codes or make it work.
Any ideas are appreciated!!!
Thank you.

What are your model numbers?
What codes are displaying?

It your going to start posting model numbers ( I think you should) it maybe simpler to start two new topics.

One for the dishwasher and one for the oven.

That dishwasher drain flap may be partially open and not allowing enough water pressure to clean the upper rack. Ain't much you can do about a broken cooktop. They are expensive to replace.

Yes, model numbers would be nice...but I don't have them.  My tenants aren't home much and the problem just came to my attention today.  Apparently they have been trying to fix/diagnose it themselves before they came to me.
Here's what I do know:  The dishwasher is a GE Adora and is 3 1/2 yrs old.  The stove/oven is a KitchenAid Convection and the glass top was replaced by the tenants after a thermal crack.  The oven problem started after the tenant bought and replaced the glass.  So, the oven codes seems like an easy fix but it has been elusive.  So, I found a KitchenAid tech and have a Fri appt set.  I hate to think about the service call fee and an easy fix.  I was hoping some of you may know before I have to go that route.
I do trust them that they have done all the easy things to rectify the problems and have verified that with them over email today.
Any other ideas?

Without models and codes, our guess is as good as yours.
Sorry.

On the dishwasher, remove the sump cover and check for debris at the pump inlet.

Thanks to all that read and tried to respond to this.
If I had been given these problems at the beginning I wouldn't feel so hurried to try and get it solved.  Since they've been living with these problems for a few weeks, now I just want to get it resolved and move on.
Thanks to all, again.

If it was me I would get something cheaper and less breakable to replace a glass cooktop stove . I would get a plain Jane GE electric stove and I would stick with a GE dishwasher without the bells and whistles.
