Kenmore Dryer Discontinued Wheel Blower
« on: January 19, 2009, 12:41:01 PM »
I'm trying to get my hands on a discontinued Wheel-Blower (Part# 08015787).  Apparently I can't find this item anywhere and I'm wondering if there would be any compatible parts by other manufacturers.

Model 417.89970100

Nope, this Frigidaire Laundry center has been placed on the obsolete list. The last correct part number for that blower changed to 5308015787 and it too has disappeared.

So has the washer motor...gone

No other part will interchange, to answer your question. I realize you must be desperate not to replace a stack unit, but oh well....

When they want something gone, it disappears. Try finding a heater for the expensive Maytag drying cabinet.

Take the blower into the parts house if you have one near you, and ask the to pull a Maytag dryer blower part # 303836.   It might fit.  If you don't have a part house near you it is worth buying one to give it a try.  Or even go to a used appliance shop, someone there might have on.   That Maytag one I suggested to you, goes on with the same clip.   Let me know how it goes.    Tom  www.applianceeducator.com

S'cuse me, Tom, but you're making suggestions that might prove harmful. Regarding the Frigidaire blower versus the Maytag blower, the shafts might appear the same, but take a closer look...

The Frigidaire blower is a 15-vane wheel, designed this way for a specific air velocity. The Maytag wheel is a 20-vane wheel, with a much increased velocity. Problem here is amp draw on the motor. A bigger, stronger fan will pull down the motor amps badly and may kick it out on overload, not to mention poor drying results from airflow that is too fast..

The blower you recommend will suck the laundry thru the lint filter and shoot them out the back :)

Remember, that's a dinky little drum on that thing. We call them the 'disposable models' at the shop.

Suck the clothes out the lint filter.  Give me a break.  Also a $800 product disposable.  Personally I would try anything, before I threw a product away for a $16.00 blower wheel.   Tom  www.applianceeducator.com

Stove Guy, if that link on ebay is legit, it looks like a great solution. Good find!

At last count I have saved over a hundred machines from the recycle pile as parts were no longer made and found them on E-Bay. We all have a bunch of dead stuff laying around from canceled orders & such. Someone else does as well & they sell them. Most are new parts. I have bought over 250 items on E-bay & had 1 bad experience.
