Not sure what is going on with the Fridge

Refrigerator has power but here are the issues:

1) It is not cooling on both sides

2)  No water is dispensing - When we push the arm it kicks out the filter (the filter is about 2 months old).


What I have done:

1) Unplugged fridge and cleaned condenser coils
2) Moved temperature to a colder setting and nothing

Any suggestions feedback will be greatly appreciated.

You have 2 different problems.
Let's address the not cooling first.
Is there a frost/ice buildup in the freezer?
Is the freezer fan motor running?

Check your compressor relay. They get brittle and die. It should make a thunka noise because it has a sliding start switch in it. If it makes no noise or sounds like a salt shaker it is toast.

Thanks for the quick replies, bare with me as I am a novice at this.

I only see 2 fans..a Condenser Fan and and Evaporator fan.  Is the evaporator fan same as the freezer fan.  Right now I only hear the condenser fan working.  I do see some slight frost on the lower back wall of the freezer.

Here is what I am going to do tomorrow morning.  I am going to purchase a new water filter to see if that is why water is not dispensing.

I am aslo going to buy a new compressor relay because it didn't make a "thunka noise" as JW Webster said.

Any other suggestions?

The evaporator fan and freezer fan are one in the same.
The condenser fan is located beside the compressor.
If the evaporator fan is not running the freezer would be cool to cold but not freezing and the fresh food compartment will be cool to warm.

You should remove the back panel in the freezer and physically inspect the coils for ice and the fan motor for running.

The adaptive defrost control on this unit also operates the evapator fan motor.

I didn't get a chance to stop at the parts stores because I was called into work.

When I got home I did what you asked and this is what I found:

Keep in mind I disconnected the fridge in the morning and didn't connect it until 6 p.m.:

I plugged it back in and ran the unit for 45 minutes:

1) Frost began to show in the freezer coils
2) Evaporator fan never kicked on
3) Condenser fan was working
4) Fresh food side was warm
5) Waters dispenses but only when I hold down the filter, otherwise the filter kicks out

Is it safe to say that the compressor and relay are good considering I saw frost building up.

One thing I thought about as I unplugged the fridge was that I never played with the temperature settings to see if that would make the evaporator fan kick on.

Using a volt meter set for 120v ac, touch the fan motor terminals and check for 120 volts.
If voltage is present, replace the fan motor.
If voltage is not present, replace the adaptive defrost control.

I would tell you to take a meter and check the Ohms on the fan motor. However, I have done this a number of times and still had a motor that would not run.

Yes, your compressor relays are good.
Try replacing your filter,especially if it is 6 months or older.

Must be a defrost problem then. most likely the heater is gone. Keep on checking the compressor. If it gets hot as heck to the touch then that relay ain't gettin out of start mode.
