Wirlpool top load - oil leak

Last month our washer stopped agitating/spinning.  We called a repair service, who came out and replaced the coupler.  Problem solved.  Today, we notice oil coming out from under the front of the washer.  I pull the washer out, and there is oil covering the floor under the unit.

I know that that the only place that would leak oil is the transmission, but could the coupler repair have caused the leak (not saying the guy did it on purpose, but maybe just a loose connection or something), or is it most likely just unfortunate coincidence?

bad luck. broken couplers are usually from overloading and over loading causes additional strain on the motor and trans. sounds like its new trans time.
