LDG7304 Maytag Dryer - making a lot of noise.

Our dryer seem to take longer to dryer cloths then it use to and once it does stop it makes a funny noise.

It's like the dryer shuts off and the motor stops right away, but there is something in the dryer that will make some noise for maybe 4-5 seconds afterwards.

Have any idea what I could look for?

Hi Robert,

Sounds like the blower wheel is stripped out on your dryer.
It is a plastic wheel that is used to move the air in your dryer. It is stripped on were it goes on the motor shaft. It slips on the motor shaft when the dryer is running so it does not move as much air in the dryer as it should. This make drying a load of cloths take longer.

When the dryer shuts off the motor stops right away, but the stripped out blower wheel slips and spins free until it stops on it's own and that is the funny noise you are hearing at the end of the cycle.

It is number 4 on the diagram below.

We had to replace the fan wheel like you said.
Sorry for such a late update, been busy.

I did not get around to looking at the dryer until a week after I read your reply.
We have no appliance parts dealers around here so we entered the model number of our dryer in your "Appliance Parts Search" you have at the top of the page.

Talk about fast shipping!
We had are part in just a few days. That next weekend I put it in and the dryer has been working like new again.

My dryer is making a high squealling noise. It was just a couple of seconds when you first started it but now its all the time. The noice is driving me nuts. I took off the front panel and the belts all look fine. I live in a apartment building and I am sure I will be getting some complaints. Model # sde 305 dayw Serial # 18851441GE. I bought this dryer new at HOme depot back in 2005. Dont have alot of money but I am sure I can fix it..Please help and thank you.

Take the drum out.
Remove the drum support rollers and clean the metal bolts the wheels attach to.
Also remove the belt tension wheel and clean that shaft as well.
Look for drum glides on the front door panel and make sure they are intact.
