Frigidaire Refrigerator too cold
« on: January 09, 2009, 06:04:36 PM »
Hello,

When we returned from a long weekend over the holidays i noticed there was no water coming out of the dispenser.  I found the water filter/housing in the back of the refrigerator had froze and cracked.  I got the replacement parts but still noticed everything on the top shelf was freezing.  I called Frigidaire and an advisor told me to check the damper flap - I verified the flap is opening and closing (can feel the cold air blow when it opens and no air when shut - although a little noisy??).  I have the refer temp all the way down to "1" on the dial (3 being factory setting).  Any ideas where to start?  could it still be the flap or could it be the temperature dial or PC board?  Any input would be GREATLY appreciated.  Thanks

Model FRS23R4AW9

Hi, do you trust what some stranger tells you?
Good, then replace the damper & control housing, part # 5303918283
A known issue to Frigidaire whether they admit it or not.
It contains all you need to correct the issue and has instructions to boot.

WOW - that was quick!  thanks for the reply.  Just checked the refrigerator about an hour ago and the top shelf wasn't frozen - it was actually warmer than normal - turned the temp back up a touch - looks like i better get the parts on order :)  thanks again!  oh - one more thing - is this something i'm going to have to plan on doing every couple of years - or will this new control last for a while?

Unless you are overly superstitious or have in some way otherwise pissed off the Appliance Gods, you should be OK for a while :)
