Admiral washer AW20N2Y won't agitate

replaced snubber now it won't agitate, spins fine , no more out of balance
pully will not turn clockwise.  Any ideas appreciated, Please

I could not find a AW20N2Y model, but I did find a AW20N2V.

Does this AW20N2V look like the washer you have?

What did you take apart to replace the snubber?
Did you ever remove the pulley from the bottom of the transmission?

That is the mod# I misread the y for v   aw20n2v.
Yes I didd remove the pulley  and got to the six screws for the brake, I loosened screws aaand slipped in new snubber. after putting it back together I filled with water aand went right to spin cycle and  it worked,
next filled with towels to run through a complete test, discovered  it would not agitate.  After reading forum  I followed inst. for Maytag performa ,
from sketch of brake & cams it looked just like mine.
I've had it completly apart and back to find nothing I can see wrong.
The pulley will not turn clockwise is it suppose to?  or could it be just an adjustment ?

Hi,

Did you have any parts left over?
From what I recall on these you can turn the pulley one way and feel the break release and spin the tub.

Turn the pulley the other way by hand and the gear box will agitate.

Have not worked on one in awhile, maybe another tech would no a bit more.

No parts left over. When I rechecked to make sure it was right I followed sketch from  Maytag perma washer, but I'm not sure it works the same, but it has the same parts.

Try laking the lower cam off and rotate it one more splin counter clockwise (as your looking at it from the bottom)  then put it back on. Was it agitating ok before you replaced the snubber? Was there any space between the retaining clip and the washer under the pulley?

It agitated fine b4 I replaced snubber, did'nt notice any space but if there was it was'nt 'much.  Now the only thing agitated is me.
Would you be able to download a repair manual to me?

Back at it again tonight, Do you think it would be possible something fell out of place in the transmission when I laid it down?

I would not think so.

How old is this washer?

I think around 10 years. It worked fine with the exception of going out of balance, till I fixed that problem.
