dryer motor replace

I need to replace the dryer motor. Just wanted to verify how to remove fan from shaft.

To remove the blower wheel you turn the wheel clockwise.
What I do is lock down the shaft inside the dryer. Then I shove a hammer handle in the blower at 3 oclock. I use my large rubber mallet or the palm of my hand and slam downwards on the handle near to the blade as possible.

You could just grab it and give it a twist but the dryer will cut the heck out of you when it lets loose.

Two wrenches. I use a adjustable wrench on the plastic blower wheel boss. Another wrench on the belt pulley shaft. Let the adjustable wrench catch itself on the inside of the cabinet. Turn the pulley end wrench clockwise. Wear gloves or wrap your hand in a towel. When everything slips it could get nasty.

I have tried the 2 wrench method but the nut will strip out if that wheel has been on there for any amount of time. I guess you could try that method first. I have an appliance lift so my way is just easier because I work by myself on stuff.

I just got through putting a motor in a dryer just like yours. After I posted at 11:30 I installed a motor cleaned  out the dryer, oiled the wheels, dryed some clothes, and ate lunch.

thanks for the input. wound up using a cordless impact gun and socket to remove the blade. did not mess up the nut and no cut fingers!
