Ventless Dryers
« on: December 29, 2008, 04:10:40 PM »
Any of you guys had a run in or experience with these new "ventless" dryers yet?

Brian...anyone?

Are they worth recommending?

I have played with several of the Bosch, Asko, Eurotech, etc., as they tend to end up in condos that have no way to vent to the outside.  They do seem to work well considering, but the customer must follow the recommended maintenance to keep it working in tip top shape. But I think the biggest expectation that must be set is they dry sloooooowly.  If the customer expects to use it just like the dryers they had in the past, they will never be happy with the performance.  But if you don't have any other option, they do what they were designed to do.

Thanks, Brian. I gather this would only be recommended as  last resort for those with dryers  in a remote location. No one likes to wait forever on a load to dry...

I appreciate your input!

I could make a redneck home made condenser dryer. I have thought many a night on how I would do it. I would take an ordinary electric or gas dryer does not matter mine will run on 120 volts. No gas or electric heating elements needed. I would set my dryer outside in the hot southern sun, inside a  tarpaper lined wood framed box large enough for the dryer to fit inside. I would throw the clothes into the dryer during mid-day. Tuck the dryer in nice and tight. The only circulation would be from the dryer exhaust back into the dryer.

The single commonest fault with the Euro condensers is that users will not clean the condenser monoblock. Lovely with our Indesit Group machines, as this will take out the safety stat - easy money!  ;D
